City Economics🏙️ was one of my favorite courses, mainly because in this class, I engaged my full mental capacity and used interesting economic approaches, with the help of programming techniques, to discuss a very interesting question. The starting point of the question was ❓whether urban housing prices match consumption levels. By comparing the relative housing prices and relative consumption levels in Shanghai, I found that ❗relative housing prices were higher than relative consumption prices. To discuss the mechanism behind this issue, I attempted to 1️⃣present the results visually on a map and discovered that this phenomenon was particularly pronounced in the city center areas. Subsequently, I tried to2️⃣ propose a model to analyze the problem and attempted to 3️⃣fit some parameters through simple regression analysis. There is still ample room for progress in this research, and I hope to have the opportunity to complete it in the future. I must say, this is one of the most impressive academic works I have ever done.
*Since PRE used Google Colab, and the code was displayed on the code page. Code running results could not be directly called to the webpage, if you are curious about the original code and data, you are also very welcome to contact me to discuss this issue together.
